National Carriers have appointed Richard Byers as marketing manager for the general distribution division. Mr Byers was NCL advertising and public relations manager. His new respbnsibilities include the NCL premium services, Medallion, Yellow Diamond and the import and export services plus the national distribution service.
Alan Partridge is the new National Carriers manager at Bristol. He takes over from Tom Morris who is retiring from the company after 2.i years in the district.
McKellar Watt of Glasgow has appointed Robert Harrison as UK transport manager. He joins the company, which make sausages and pies, from National Carriers where he was engineering manager for the West of Scotland.
Laurence Sargent has been named vice-president (Europe) of the SST Container Corporation based in London and Michael Bennet has been promoted to director of marketing for Europe.
The Road Haulage Association has elected K. A. Darya11 as chairman of its public relations committee with P. B. Miller and C. H. Telling as vice-chairmen.
Technical committee chairman is R. E. Gooch and K. A. Brown is the vice-chairman. Education and training committee chairman is Victor Clements with O. Johns and E. Williams as vice-chairmen.
Labour relation committee chairman is E. B. R. Smith and vice-chairman is H. A. Russett.
National Travel (Midlands) has appointed Michael Grant to the new post of assistant commercial manager based at company headquarters in Birmingham. He began his career as a summer holiday bus conductor with Eastern National in 1967.
Oxford South Midland general manager David Meredith is to be the new general manager of Crosville Motor Services based in Chester. Mr Meredith is to succeed Edward Dravers, who has been appointed director and controller of National Travel.
Roger Rhodes is to be National Travel's training and administration officer based at National Travel hq in Birmingham. His wife, June, is assistant holidays manager for the hq office.
New director-general of the West Yorkshire PTE is Robin Ward, who succeeds Tom Lord on his retirement. Mr Ward has been director of personnel for two years.
William Barker has been appointed assistant chief engineer (designate) with United Automobile from September 1.
Former Cory chairman John Franklin, 49, is to become group managing director of the Powell Duffryn group on August 5. Mr Franklin joined Powell Duffryn in 1956 and became a director in 1970.
Geoffrey Jones is to be the new deputy chairman of the Powell Duff ryn group following the retirement of S. James L. Hill on August 4.
Yorkshire Vehicles Ltd, part of the Hestair Group has appointed Paul Bourgeois as managing director. He was the Ford Motor Company's youngest ever production superintendent.
