• A new TUC industrial committee for transport unions will have its first meeting in August. Its brief is both to look at the particular problems of passenger transport. road haulage. the docks, shipping and airlines, and to study broader issues such as the impact of containerization on freight transport.
Four TUC General Council members will be on the committee, together with representatives chosen by the unions in transport. Each union will have one member for every 100,000 members in the transport industries.
