Stating this in the House of Commons Les Huckfield Under Secretary for Industry added that a pilot production of battery electric delivery vans had commenced and would continue for three to four years in association with comprehensive proving and demonstration programmes, before larger scale productions became feasible.
The department was also supporting work on advanced electric batteries.
