MR. JOSEPH GOODWIN has been appointed managing director of W. Briggs and Co., Ltd. He will continue to act as chairman of the Briggs group.
MR. J. ATHERTON, M.Inst.T.. general manager of Eastbourne Transport Department, has been eleCted president of the Southern Counties Touring Society.
MR. C. T. HumPIDGE.. general manager of Rochdale Transport Department, has been appointed general manager of Bradford Transport Department.
MR. J. Prisms, deputy chairman and managing director of British Timken. Ltd., and Fischer Bearings. Co., Ltd., has been appointed chairman and managing director of the two concerns.
MR. C. S. JOSEPH has been appointed a joint managing director of Clifford Motor Components, Ltd., and will hold office in conjunction with the present managing director, MR. S. C. JOSEPH.
MR. G. I. LEAVER, who already holds the offices of director and treasurer, has been appointed secretary to Vauxhall Motors, Ltd. He will fill the vacancy left by Ma. T. MACKENZIE, who has retired through ill-health, after 36 years' service as secretary.
MR. WALLACE B. PHILLIPS, chairman of the Pyrene Co., Ltd., was the guest of honour of the directors at a farewell dinner at the Savoy Hotel on the occasion of his permanent return to the United States. He expects, however, to visit England each year.

The Minister of Transport hopes to appoint the full committee shortly Ma. R. C. LEYLAND SHOWN IN NEW YORK
ONE of the products of Leyland Motors (Canada), Ltd., was exhibited in the U.S.A. for the first time at the transport vehicle show which opened recently in New York.
The vehicle was a Beaver twin-axled oiler which the company has designed for the North American market and can be used for various tasks. It has a 147-in. wheelbase.
LUNCHEON OF THE M.H.A.T.
THE annual luncheon of the Mansion House Association on Transport will be held on April 5 at the Trocadero Restaurant, London, before the Association's annual meeting. The principal guest will be the Minister of Supply.
AMENDMENT BILL: LAST STAGE THE Transport (Amendment) Bill received its third reading in the House of Lords on Tuesday. The private member's Bill of the same name will come up for second reading in the House of Commons next Friday.
NEW REGISTRATIONS DOWN
NEW registrations of vehicles other than cars and motorcycles fell from 12,537 in October to 11.569 in November. The total for the first 11 months of last year was 144.261.
