F. Burrows has been appointed manager of a new Claude Rye Bearings branch at Chart Road Estate, Godinton Road, Ashford, Kent. A. H. (Herbert) Parkes retires as managing director of Small and Parkes, Manchester, at the end of December, after 40 years with the company which was founded by his father. Mr. Parkes will be succeeded by his son, F. P. (Pat) Parkes.

York Trailer. Co. announces that Desmond O'Neill, 38, has been appointed regional sales manager for Eire and Northern Ireland.

R. Burgin, engineer of Sheffield United Tours Ltd., has been appointed deputy general manager of the company, as from January 1. Mr. Burgin began his career in transport with County Motors (Lepton), Ltd., in 3928. He took up his present post with Sheffield United in 1946.

Avon has appointed H. Kaiser general manner (tyres). Mr. Kaiser joined Avon in 1963 as deputy chief enaineer John Darby, for 32 years sales and advertising manager of Herbert Terry and Sons, Ltd., retires at the end of the month after 50 years with the company.

British Timken division of the Timken Roller Bearing Co., Duston, Northampton, announces that FL F. Searle has been appointed sales manager, industrial division. Manager of a new Parte° Ltd., branch in Bilton Road, Bletchley, is A. .I..Royles.

OBITUARY

WE regret to record the deaths of Frank Edwards, C. E. Jordan and Harry Malpas Woblley.

Mr. Edwards was managing director of the road haulage firm of F. Edwards (Loppington) Ltd. For the past five years he had his son, Mr. John Edwards, as a partner.

Mr. Jordan served on the TATA national council for several years and was a national vicechairman. He was a long-standing member of the old Commercial Motor Users' Association, of which he was West Bromwich sub-area chairman. He was chairman of the TRTA West Midland area from 1944 to 1959.

Mr. Woolley was chairman and managing director of Starey's Ltd., the Nottingham coach builders and automobile engineers. He was 74.
