IfHE anticipated public offer for sale of Ordinary shares and debenture Stock in Allisons Freightlines Ltd. was made on Monday. Mounthall Securities Ltd. is offering 1,500,000 Ordinary shares of 2s. each

at 3s. a share and £300,000 8+ per cent debenture stock 1986/91 at £99 per cent.

Allisons is one of the largest transport operators in Scotland. Starting as a clearing house in Dundee in 1946, the company operated 45 vehicles on A licence when it was incorporated in 1953. From 1956, other companies were acquired and the fleet was split into two, one section operating mainly in Scotland and the other undertaking long-distance haulage. Contract business, mainly for the movement of steel for Colvilles from Gartcosh to the South, was also developed.

The most recent acquisition, James Kemp (Leslie) Ltd., is centred on Fife, adjacent to paper mills and the new town of Glenrothes. Altogether 241 vehicles and 175 semi-trailers are operated by the group. There are 179 A-licensed vehicles and 29 vehicles on Contract A licences, with a number of B and C licences.

The prospectus reveals that the company is negotiating to acquire for £10,000 an option to purchase a group of companies operating a fleet of heavy commercia vehicles for the price (including the optiot payment) of £303,567. The option woult not be exercised without the prior approva of shareholders and the exercise is not an ticipated before July 1967.

SHAP FELL CONVOY

CONVOYS of goods vehicles over dangerous Shap Fell this winter, rigids leading, artics behind . . . these will be arranged by police and traffic wardens whenever possible. The plan stemmed from a meeting between RHA consultant engineer Maj. R. A. B. Smith, the county surveyor, and police officers, the RHA announced this week.
