B.M.C. Profit Up: Group profit of the British Motor Corporation was £21,970,470 for the year ended July 27 last, compared with 00,083,043 in the previous year. After depreciation and taxation, the net profit was £9.403,119 (0,397,557). The dividend was maintained at Is. per 5s. share.

Power-to-weight: Having approved the E.E.C. Commission's draft directive on vehicle weights and dimensions earlier this year (but asking for an 18 m. length for road trains and a 13-ton axle limit) the Economic and Social Committee has now approved the other technical requirements listed in the directive. The E.S.C. has, however. asked that power-to-weight limits should take effect on January 1, 1966, and not at the beginning of 1965.

Slade as branch sales engineer; 8 Woodside Terrace, Glasgow, C.3 (Douglas 2494), with Mr. W. Armstrong as branch sales engineer; Proctor House. 29 Side, Newcastle upon Tyne, 1 (Newcastle 26453), with Mr. W. Heenan as branch sales engineer, and 8 Harborne Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham (Edgbaston 2952), with Mr. M. C. Emma as branch sales engineer. Overall responsibility for sales and service remains with Mr. W. P. Warren, who is a director of the company. Simultaneously with the creation of these regional sales offices, Mr. M. Whyte, as Dempster service manager, assumes responsibility for all servicing throughout the country, with depots at Cardiff, based on the main works: in the Home Counties with Peter Hamilton Equipment Ltd., 820 Yeovil Road, Slough Trading Estate; on the south coast with Wryman's Ltd., Ramsey, Hants; and in the north-west with E. and F. Beattie Ltd., 28-30 Dudley Road, Whalley Range, Manchester, 16. Further depots will shortly he in operation at Birmingham, Glasgow and Newcastle.

Metropolitan-Cammell Expansion : Leyland Motors 399,320 shares in Bus Bodies (SA) of South Africa have been purchased by Metropolitan-Cammell Carriage and Wagon by a private arrangement. This brings the latter's holding in Bus Bodies (SA) to around 60 per cent of issued capital. Ekisting arrangements between Leyland Albion (Africa) and Bus Bodies (SA) regarding the manufacture and sale by Bus Bodies (SA) of chassis-less vehicles incorporating Leyland or Albion running gears, will not be affected.
