Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

NEW four-wheel-drive chassis, more powerful engines, higher gross-weight ratings, automatic gearboxes and power steering are the highlights of the 1958 Studebaker goods chassis announced by the Studebaker-Packard Corporation, South Bend, Indiana, U.S.A.

There are three new series of 4 x 4 chassis, with gross weight ratings of 24 tons to 41 tons. In all these models a single gear lever is provided for the engagement of the auxiliary ratios and the front-wheel drive.

All Studebaker petrol engines have a compression ratio of 7.5 : 1, the largest unit being a 289-cu.-in. V-8 which develops 182 b.h.p. and 288 lb.-ft. torque. Lightweight chassis have the Studebaker Twin Traction limited-slip rear-axle differential and power steering is offered on all heavy models up to 94 tons gross.

Cabs have been restyled and incorporate a plastics radiator-grille panel. Crash-pads and seat belts are offered and tubeless tyres are standard equipment.

FARMERS. WANT AN END TO "SUEZ" BUS CUTS

BUS companies with a monopoly in any district should be prepared to operate non-paying as well as profitable routes. This was agreed by delegates to the Perth area executive of the National Farmers' Union of Scotland last week.

The matter was raised by Perth branch, who referred in a resolution to the hardship being experienced in some rural districts because bus services which were withdrawn when petrol rationing was in force had not been restored.

The secretary, Mr. A. Napier, said Union headquarters were prepared to support any action aimed at promoting the restoration of these services.
