MR. P. C. McGLaRE has been appointed transport manager of Batchelors Peas, Ltd., Sheffield. Aged 27, he joined Unilever in 1947 and spent eight months with the British Transport Commission during a twoyear managerial training course.

MR. W. R. BLACK, chairman of A.C.V. Sales, Ltd., has been elected president of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders in succession to MR. HENRY SPURRIER, managing director of Leyland Motors, Ltd., who has now become deputy president. Mr. Black's appointment was forecast by The Commercial Motor last week. Da. F. LLEWELLYN SMITH and MR. A. B. WARING have been re-eleded vicepresidents, and MAJ.-GEN. J. S. CRAWFORD has succeeded Mr. Black as Honorary treasurer.

M. E. B. MONTI:SOLE has become chairman of Mulliners (Holdings), Ltd., in succession to the late MR. Kum, JOYCE.

M. R. REDMAN HICKS has been appointed sales manager of Dalton and Co., Ltd., refiners of Silkolene lubricants. He was formerly general sales engineer of W. B. Dick and Co., Ltd.

MR. E. C. HILL has been appointed traffic manager of the South Wales Transport Co., Ltd. He began his career with the East Surrey Traction Co., Ltd., and was later associated with London Transport and the Devon General concern.

MR. L. C. HARRISON, traffic superintendent of Exeter Transport Department, has been appointed general manager of West Bridgford Transport Department. On July 1 he will succeed MR. J. SNOWDEN, who has been at West Bridgford for 27 years.

MR. W. WHITEHEAD has been elected chairman of the Merseyside and North Wales Division of the Traders' Road Transport Association. The vicechairman is now MR. A. L. BAGLEY and the honorary treasurer MR. J. E. MOORE. MR. C. E. JORDAN has been elected chairman of the West Midland Division. The vice-chairmen are Ma. J. H. GUTTERIDGE, MR. W. A. STANDLEY and MR. W. W. MARTIN. M. F. A. 0a-rEs has been re-elected chairman of the Reading and District Area. MR. E. W000 has been re-elected to the chairmanship of the Eastern Area, with MR. P. W. HOWLINGS, MR. H. C.
