• IlneKpectedly high costs of trolleybuses look likely to delay or even kill off the proposed Bradford route which is planned to be operated by Yorkshire Rider for West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Authority.
The PTA says each trolleybus will cost around R285,000, and it is approaching the Department of Transport for extra cash.
Bill Cottham, managing directot of Yorkshire Rider, says Renault has recently dropped out from the tendering process, bringing to an end attempts to get foreign manufacturers interested in quoting. He blartes the high cost of the vehicles on electrical equipment and chassis modifications.
