Axle Design

SELF-ALIGN1NG axle for use on PA. four-wheeled trailers has recently been introduced by Rubber By-Products (Warwickshire). Ltd., g6, Holloway Head, Birmingham, I. It consists of a 2,i-in.-diameter mild-steel beam on the ends of which cranked members, carrying the axle stubs, are welded. As the cranked members face fore and aft respectively, the axle beam is set at an angle on the vehicle chassis in order to bring the wheels into alignment. The chief claim made for the design is that its use prevents distortion of the chassis to which it is fitted.
