A Large Entry and Keen Competition Gratifies the Officials and the Prize Donors. Excellent Condition of the Entered Vehicles.

13 IRMINGHAM'S fifth commercialvehicle parade., held on the 5th inst., was conducted by the West Midlands division of the Commercial Motor Users Associatio-n, in fine weather, and after the parade a-smoking concert was given to the .drivers, their families and friends, the opportunity being then• taken to distribute the prizes, which act was gracefully performed by the Chief Constable of Birmingham, Mr. C. H. Rafter.

The parade ground was at Queen's Drive, Cannon Hill, Birmingham, permission to use which was granted by the Parks Committee of the Corporation.

The sum of £88 7s. had been subscribed to the prize fund, including the prizes for special classes (Fords, Vulcans, Leylands and Thornycrofts) offered by different agents.

One hundred and thirty-seven vehicles paraded, and they embraced all types and all sizes. Some of them were entered in more than one, class. The condition on the whole was exeellent, the owners and dij.yers-evidently being convinced of the value of cleanliness as an aid to regular and consistent supervision of chassis details. In fact, so good was the general appearance that the judges were often hard p.ut to it to secure a close classification.

The judges were Messrs. J. F. Diamond, W. Marshall, II. Miller, G. F. Piercy, P. M. Saunders, W. Sharp, L. G. W. Shire, and E. Tindley, Capt. Bristow being chairman of the judges' committee. The hon. secretary was Major R. V. C. Brook, and the work which he and the parade committee sod the entertainments sub-committee put in was really commendable. The results are as follow :—
