A 21-YEAR-OLD who runs his own transport business from home in Atherstone, Warwicks, beat more than 1,000 contestants in a competition for a Leyland Roadtrain costing £30,000.
Simon Sargent demonstrated his knowledge of the industry by answering searching questions on law, operational products and efficient use of resources. Special tie-breaker questions on fuel consumption sorted out the 50 finalists and Simon emerged supreme.
He already has two Mercedes and with the Leyland he plans to break into Continental haulage as well as operating throughout the United Kingdom. Britain needs many more young men like him.
