Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The success of the London Construction Consolidation Centre (LCCC) in Bermondsey could influence any decision to set up a similar operation for the 2012 Olympics site.

Wilson James, which runs the Bermondsey business, certainly hopes so. As soon as the LCCC opened in 2005 the company stated: It is hoped that the facility will serve as the model for logistics delivery of major construction projects (including the London 2012 Olympics construction programme)".

While TfL points out any decision on this will be up to the Olympic Delivery Authority, consolidation centres clearly fit in with its long-term plans for the capital as a whole. Under the TfL Freight Unit's London Freight Plan, part of its argument for promoting consolidation is that, over the next 10 years, London's population is expected to grow by 800,000-with a consequent increase in freight transport of 15%.

As with the London congestion charge, it seems consolidation centres are here to stay. The difference is that consolidation centres might be a little more popular with hauliers,
