Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE first coachbuilding concern to present a new coach design this year, Strachans (Successors), • Ltd., Wales Farm Road,. London, W.3, last week introduced the Strachans Shathrhe to the -Press. The first vehicle, based. on an A.E.C..Regal NI,k. IV chassis, is 30 ft. long and 7 ft. 6 ins. wide.

Careful shaping•of the seat backs has enabled the coach builder to provide ample seating. accommodation: for 41 passengers. Although 'full'luxury equipment, including two sliding toots, -fulF drop winding windows, ClaytonAVII and V12 'heaters are fitted, the unladen . weight of the coach is only 7 tons 16. cwt. • Passengers enter through a centre sliding door employing Wilfrid Overton equipment. On the opposite side of the body, and slightly to the rear, is the hinged emergency .door. The provision of a separate.hinged door for the driver is unusual in this type of body, which has no bulkhead.

Four capacious luggage racks are

• suspended over the seats, and additional accommodation for larger items of baggage is available in the rear locket. A warm touch is given to the interior by the use of anodized alumihiunistrip on the outside of the luggage racks arid

for the hand rails. . , Uncut moquette with a small chevron pattern has been einployed for the seat

upholstery, set off by leather-cloth head-rolls. The sides of the body, underside of the racks and cant panels are also lined with uncut moquette. Provision is made for radio, three speakers being provided. The control head fits on a box between the driving seat and the front passenger seat, in which is the front heater outlet.

External .appearance is in keeping with ,the quiet dignity of the interior. An all-enveloping wing effect is ensured

by a continuous line surrounding the wheel apertures. An extra line of polished moulding above the main wing enable S the operator to specify. a panel in contrasting colour.

Composite 'construction is used for the framing.. Long windscreen wipers above and below the off-side and nearside panels respectively ensure that . good .visibility is maintainedin bad weather. The curved glazed panels by the windscreen have a wide radius.
