• The Road Transport Industry Training Board has stirred up considerable trouble for itself by including with the recent levy assessment form sent to operators a note to the effect that grant claim forms would not be distributed until the levy had been paid.
Says the Board's newspaper Transport Training: "Some employers have regarded this as an impertinent 'threat', others as an unjustified demand for payment of a future account before payment of a past debt. We would like to apologize to the first group by explaining that -the note is intended as a reminder and not as a threat: and to explain to the second group that the Board has not, in fact. made any alterations to its previous practice and simply sought to emphasize that grant claims cannot be accepted until all levies due have been paid."
