SUPPORT from Tayside Region saved coach operator Ernest Yule of Pitlochry from having his psv licence revoked last week.

A spokesman for Tayside region said in court that arrangements were under discussion to allow Mr Yule to use Tayside transport department facilities at Aberfeldy for maintenance.

The Region was anxious that Mr Yule should continue to operate his services. The court was told that two of Mr Yule's buses had failed their roadworthiness examinations with one of the faults being "of a relatively serious nature."

Announcing their decision to reserve judgment, Mr Birnie said the Commissioners wanted an undertaking in writing that a system of recording defects spotted by drivers, and the use of a monthly inspec tion form, would be implc mented.

They also insisted that ev dence of an agreement to us the Region's facilities at Abe] feldy be submitted within 1 days.

Mr Birnie concluded that was only on the strenth such an undertaking bein given, that the Commissiondi would be prepared to sho, leniency.
