Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Could you tell me what the position is now regarding this, seeing that VAT has now been introduced? I know that formerly a van had to be over three years' old before this conversion could be done.

ACars are subject to value-added tax and a special tax, which is also calculated at 10 per cent of the wholesale value.

If you put side windows in your van, you will become liable to pay the 10 per cent car tax on the wholesale value. This is the case, no matter what the age of the vehicle. The older it is, however, the less tax you would have to pay as the 10 per cent would be calculated on the value of the vehicle at the time the conversion is effected.
