AN important contract received by Bristol

Commercial Vehicles Ltd. is for 40 RESL rear-underfloor-engined bus chassis for Southdown, Motor Services Ltd. The specification includes synchromesh gearboxes, leaf springs and a Clayton Dewandre lubrication system. Gardner 6HLW engines will be fitted.

Soutbdown is the second BET operator to order Bristol chassis since this model became available again on the open market, the other being for the North Western Road Car Co. Ltd. which has ordered 25 RE chassis recently (COMMERCIAL MOTOR August 26).

A further municipal order for Bristois became known this week, when BCV revealed that five RELL single-decker chassis with Leyland 0.600 engines and semi-automatic transmission had been ordered by West Hartlepool Corporation for delivery during 1968.

Meanwhile, West Hartlepool transport committee has just accepted a tender from Bristol for four RELL single-deckers which are expected to be delivered in 1967. They will have ECW dual-entrance 47-seat bodies designed to take 24 standing passengers.
