Conferences have recently been held at Whitehall Gardens, at the instance of the Minister of Transport, for the preliminary discussion of a project known as the North Orbital Roa.d. Representatives of local authorities in Vises, Hertfordshire end Buckinghamshire attended, and the scheme was explained in broad outline by Mr. C. H.

Following a roughly semi-circular course at a radius of about 22 miles from Char;»g Cross, the road will start in the east. at Tilbury and will skirt Brentwood, Ongar, Hoddesdon, Hat, field, St. Albans and Rickmansworth, and terminate on the Bath Road near
Slough. The total length is about 75 miles, but for a great part of the distance use will be made of the existing toads. The local authorities concerned have been asked to give the matter their early attention in the light of,more detailed particulars which are being given by the Ministry.
