WHEN a haulier applies for a new licence any figures which are produced must be certified by an accountant. This was emphasized last week by Mr. R. C. Oswald, for the British Transport Commission, during a case heard by the North Western Deputy Licensing Authority, Mr. I. Rutherford Lindsay.

Mr. Oswald suggested that supporting evidence in the form of tables showing the haulier's takings was of Tittle or no value. A Licensing Authority could refuse an application if tables of that kind were produced to show the extent and growth of a business.

The B.T.C. were objecting to an appLcation by Mr. M. McKenna, Liverpool. who wanted a collection and delivery vehicle on B licence to serve his A-licence fleet

He produced statistical tables .0 f earnings which were not vouched for by an accountant.

Mr. Lindsay upheld Mr. Osvvald's submission and adjourned the case for certified revenue and turn-over figures to be produced.
