Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

LOADS of up to 250 kg can be safely moved up or down stairs with a new S.R.450 stair robot. It is powered by rechargeable solid cell batteries which provide enough power for a normal day's work. A built-in charger unit simplifies recharging from the nearest 240 volt supply. Recharging from a vehicle source, between calls, can also be provided if necessary.

There are two simple 'up' and 'down buttons, which also provide a dead-man's handle device. This means that loads can be held stationary and safely on any level of a stairway, according to the suppliers. The twin rubber tracks spread the load over the treads of three stairs to provide both gentleness and stability while the robot moves on to the stairs at a rate of 15 f.p.m., regardless of the weight of the load.

Extending handles permit loads of up to 6 ft. 2 ins, long to be carried. Where vehicles are not provided with tail lift facilities, loads can be carried on and off with the aid of light ramps or portable steps. Other models up to 1000 kg capacity are available.

The manufacturers are Aata BV of Holland, it is marketed by Handling Equipment Limited, 13 Linkfield Corner, Redhill, Surrey. Tel. (0737) 68154/5 Telex 8812370.
