Let's have a clean up

DEBIGUIP have recently introduced the PORTASHOT to their range of high pressure washers. It is a lightweight, portable power washer with the versatility to tackle a wide range of cleaning jobs.

Debiquip says "the Portashot will blast away oil, grease and grime to leave walls, floors, vehicles, plant and machinery as clean as a whistle, saving on time, labour and expense."

It weighs 40kg, mounted on a strong epoxy painted chassis fitted with large rubber tyres. The Portashot is fully mobile and with centre lift handle may be carried.

The equipment has a high output direct drive pump and is available in three models offering 1000, 1350 or 1500 psi. Operating from mains hot or cold water or suction from a tank, butt or other source the unit may be used with or without detergent. It requires minimal maintenence.

The design incorporates a "Deadmans trigger" on/off gun to trip out the high pressure jet immediately on release, a hoseproof starter with overload trip and "no-volt" release, fan cooled class "F" insulated motor and heavy duty power cable. In addition, all units may be fitted with an earth leakage circuit breaker.

With a full range of chemicals and accessories offered, the Portashot costs from £486.

It carries a 12 months parts and labour guarantee and Debiquip offers tailor made service contracts to suit customer requirements.

Debiquip Limited, 80 Spencer Road, Belper, Derbyshire DE5 1JW. CLEANING and maintenance specialist Ardrox has introduced two new cold wash cleaning units designed to meet a wide range of general as well as more specialised cleaning requirements. Both models have stainless steel vessels and are wheel-mounted for easy manoeuvrability.

Ardrox BCI 261 is a mobile pressure spray unit incorporating a single spray lance and can be used with a wide range of chemical solutions. It has a variable working pressure of up to 130 psi, with the stainless steel pressure vessel tested to 520 psi. It includes a two-inch thick hard rubber/vinyl base plate vulcanised to the bottom of the container. A similar vulcanised plate is fitted at the top of the tank which embodies a choice of carrying handles.

The top of the pressure vessel has a four-inch "Quicklok" cover for rapid and easy filling. The cover incorporates a pressure release valve which automatically vents if internal pressure exceeds 130 psi. Solution discharge is through 20 feet of high-pressure flexible tubing. This is controlled by a heavy-duty automatic shut-off insulated spray gun unit which has a 24-inch extension lance and a variable spray nozzle. A number of spray lances are available to meet different uses.

The BCI 261 has a nominal capacity of 20 litres and will allow up to 30 minutes of continuous spraying with one fluid charge. When empty, the tank weighs 6kg and the dimensions, including the lance and hose, are 26 in high x 81/2 in diameter. An alternative unit using an electrically-operated pump is also available.

Ardrox BC' 262 is a trolleymounted chemical foam generator. It operates by compressed air which pressurises a dual tank assembly. These deliver a premixed chemical solution through a lance in the form of an aerated expanded foam. It is suitable for a wide range of cleaning operations and has a special use for degreasing engines and similar parts where longer "dwell" periods are required.

The stainless steel pressure tanks each have a capacity of 20 litres. They are tested to 520 psi and have a variable working pressure of up to 130 psi. If required, the tanks can be used independently, applying foam with one and a spray rinse with the other. Quick-release couplings allow an easy interchange of lance options. The weight of the complete unit is 17kg.

Ardrox Limited, Furlong Road, Bourne End, Bucks SL8 5AJ. Tel: Bourne End (062 85) 24951. Telex: 848624. SOI LAX of Swindon, Wiltshire, specialists in chemical products and equipment for process cleaning and hygiene, has introduced the Aja-Lif range of parts cleaning equipment to the UK market.

Aja-Lif is for cleaning machine parts, metallic and non-metallic, and for applying liquid materials and treatments by immersion. Typical applications include degreasing, decarbonising, stripping, phosphating, quenching, and the application of protective coatings.

The principal advantage claimed for Aja-Lif equipment is the cleaning technique used. Products to be treated are immersed in a tank of suitable material where rapid mechanical agitation takes place. This is said to offer advantages over the alternative use of convection currents, compressed air and other methods of agitating cleaning media, since "dead areas" amongst the immersed products are eliminated.

The basic Aja-Lif machine includes a material tank and a platform to support products to be treated. At the start of a cycle the platform is raised above liquid level for parts to be loaded. When ready, a single control lowers the platform into the tank and starts the agitation. The same control stops agitation and raises the platform at the end of the cycle. The machine only requires compressed air.

Six standard tank sizes are available, with load capacities ranging up to 600kg. A number of options are available including automatic lifts to assist load handling, roller platforms, in-feed conveyors and automatic lids. Equipment can also be included to filter chemical media and maintain them at adequate working strengths. Heating, if required, can be by electricity, gas or steam.

Aja-Lif equipment is available from Soilax Limited, David Murray John Building, Swindon, Wiltshire SN1 1ND. Tel: (0739) 485151. Telex: 449184.
