Road-Rail Co-ordination.

The transport committee of Morecambe Corporation has appointed a sub-committee to arrange an interview with representatives of the railway company, with a view to co-ordination of train and bus services at Hest Bank railway station.

Gas Vehicles for Leeds?

The gas committee of Leeds Corporation has authorized the gas engineer to report on the question of installing a gas compressor and the necessary cylinders for the adaptation of a number of the department's motor vehicles for operation by compressed coal gas, instead of petrol.

Motors Save Barking's Money.

Barking Borough Council, which in .1930 changed over from horsed vehicles to mechanical transport for refuse collection, reports an estimated saving of £4,136 upon the cost of refuse collection during the year ended March 31, 1933.

The actual cost was £7,180, against £5,120 in 1927, but the cost per building in 1927 was 138., and last year this had been reduced to 8a. 9d. Five S.D. Freighter refuse collectors and a general-purpose vehicle are now in use by the council.
