A MASSIVE torque increasE to 1,480Nm (1,1001bft) ha! been achieved with Scania'5 DS14 V8 engine.
The improved engin( powers the new Scania 141 and 146 models which madE their debut at the BrusselE Show on Wednesday.
Although basic design is still the same 14-litre (854cuin) V8, modifications to the combustion process have raised the power output to 275kW (375bhp) at 2,000rpm.
Scania claims that the new design for the cylinder heads has resulted in better mixing of air and fuel with improvement in the volumetric efficiency.
The new DS14 engine is now being fitted with a new fuel injection pump, new valves and seats, new pistons, a new camshaft and a different valve mechanism.
Several other modifications have been introduced with the aim of improving engine life.
