AN interesting tool, costing £45, to expedite the work of boring bearings, which is known as the Anson main-bearing and camshaft-bearing boring liar, is sold by the Service Equipment Co., Ltd., Drayton House, 30, Gordon Street and Euston Road, London, W.0.1..
It will bore from one to nine bearings in a single operation. To locate the aligning bar, pairs
of collars are provided. Ten sets of these are sold in a finished form and six sets in a semi-finished form, with each outfit. The mounting bridges and locating staffs permit a wide range of adjustment to suit individual engines. The cutters can be set to a tolerance of half a thousandth of an inch or less. Face-type thrust bearings can be prepared by means of special cutters included in the outfit. Two brackets are provided for carrying the boring bar when treating camshaft bearings. When a tool of this type is employed much time can be saved.
