Aficionados of Thornycroft lorries will be pleased to hear of the Thornycroft Society, which has been set up with the aim of "promoting and improving the knowledge of the part played by Thornycroft in the development of Basingstoke" — the firrn was based there for 75 years.
The society also hopes to establish a museum in Basingstoke and to organise an annual rally. Membership is open to ex-Thornycroft workers, owners of working vehicles, and folk who are just interested in the marque.
