REDUCTIONS in services over 41 't routes, together with adjustments to timetables, were granted on Monday to the West Riding Automobile Co., Ltd. Mr. W. R. Hargrave, for the company, told the Yorkshire Traffic Commissioners that the changes were necessary because of declining traffic.

He said the effect of television was still being felt, and more other forms of transport were becoming available to the public. On some of the routes, the introduction of Diesel trains by British Railways had affected bus loadings.

"In these circumstances, the high cost of operation has made it imperative that every unnecessary or waSteful mile should be eliminated," he added.

Mr. A. H. Scott, general manager, said there had been a marked reduction in bus passengers between Leeds and Castleforcl since the introduction of Diesel trains.
