Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ONE of the most recent bus bodies to be produced in the works of Messrs. Stmt.:hen and Brown, Wales Farm Road, London, W.3, is that shown in an aecompanying illustration, wherein it is to be seen mounted on a Maudslay low loatidine passenger chassis. The vehicle has been supplied through Messrs. 'Batchelor Bowles, 60, London Road, Leieester, to Ur. J. Forman, Kirby Mitxloc, near Leicester, who, we are told, is running a regular daily service between his headquarters and the city, approximately 20 journeys being made on this route each day.

The body is built to seat 26 people, who are accommodated on spring-backtype seats which are upholstered in red leather and have well-padded back squabs. The entrance to the interior is by way of a deeply recessed door at the rear, this being constructed in a single Piece and of wide proportions; only a single step is needed to reach the floor level.

Two windows on each side of the body can be lowered and these are of the

bodybuilders' silent, balanced type. With these windows down, ample fresh air finds its way into the interior, but when they are closed square-type roof ventilators, which can be adjusted, attend to the ventilation of the passenger compartment. The body is built on the orthodox Strachan and Brown lines and embodies the company's patent form of steel bracket for the top and bottom corners of side pillars and hoopsticks.

The driving cab is reached through a full-depth door on the off side, and it is provided with a drop window which is carefully balanced so that the driver can raise and lower it with one hand only. The cab is protected by a sliding all-metal screen, which ensures a clear view for the driver. This screen, in conjunction with the streamlined handbeaten scuttledash and the aluminium bonnet for the engine, gives the vehicle an attractive appearance. The bus is shod with Dunlop cord tyres on all wheels, a bracket for a spare being fixed below the chassis frame at the rear.
