Manage risk better with the latest Fleet Safety Forum directory of suppliers and service providers. Brian

Weatherley reports. ICs only right that we start by declaring our interest in the Fleet Safety Forum—the 'best practice' information exchange run by the road safety campaign group Brake.

Commercial Motor is an FSF member and is consistently impressed by the information it provides every month, particularly through its rolling programme of safety and riskmanagement seminars and conferences.

Its latest Fleet Safety Forum Directory 2005 is free; it's designed to help truck and van fleet managers find suppliers who can help ensure that their vehicles are roadworthy and are used appropriately and safely.

The latest directory includes the following categories: *Trade associations • Driver training companies • Risk management companies • Driver safety devices • Vehicle safety devices • Insurance companies Operators have a duty of care under the Health and Safety at Work Act for the safety of their employees at work, and that includes those who need to drive as part of their job (CM 20 January). To meet this obligation companies should have comprehensive road safety policies in place and ensure that workers are given all the information, training and supervision they need to be safe on the road.

The FSF Directory (see panel) includes information on companies that can help fleet operators manage their occupational road risk. Subscribers to the FSF also receive monthly news, information sheets and posters on fleet safety best practice, as well as details of conferences and workshops which are available to FSF members at reduced rates.

FSF subscriptions start from as little as £105 (ex-VAT) a year. •
