Spectators at LDoY contests often sympathize with Army competitors who, handling vehicles intended for military use, are severely handicapped in comparison with civilian entrants. The Army, however, has its own driving championships in which the drivers and vehicles are more evenly matched. The Western Command series will take place at Oswestry this autumn.
Those with interests in civilian transport have shown themselves anxious to encourage the enthusiasts, ' both Regulars and Territorials, on the other side of the fence. I hear that trophies are being given by Gilbraith Commercials Ltd., of Accrington and by the Road Haulage Association, South Shropshire sub-area.
