LORD STOKES, past chairman and past president of British Leyland, has been elected president of the Institute of Road Trans port Engineers.

At its recent annual general meeting, Lord Stokes was presented with the badge of office from the outgoing president Sir Peter Masefield.

Lord Stokes gave up his BL chairmanship in the early Seventies and ceased to be • president in 1980.
