The Formation of an Association to Protect the Interests of Owners in South Wales, Gloucestershire and Heretordshire.

MHERE is little doubt that bus pro

prietors can achieve good results from co-operation' and it is interesting to learn, therefore, that the omnibus proprietors of South Wales, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire recently decided, at a well-attended meeting held at the Park Hotel, Cardiff, on the formation of an association confined to passenger-vehicles owners of this class.

The association is exclusively confined to members owning not less than two motorbuses which are licensed by a local licensing authority to maintain a daily service to a published time-table and a rated scale of charges. The main objects of the association are to promote, advance and protect the interests of its Membere and to carry on any propaganda • work which may be considered advisable, this including the support or opposition of Acts of Parliament or by-laws which may be proposed or adopted.

It is intended to set up and maintain a system of combined or collective purchasing of all those essentials which are required in connection with the operation of buses, and the advantages which will obviously accrue from such a scheme will confer benefits tan members . of the AssociatiOn.

We notice, according to the rules of the association, that should any differende arise as between two members, no action shall be taken by either until the matter,

has been reported to the executive committee, which, if it fails to arrange an amicable settlement between the parties, shall refer the matter to the association_ Should the decision of the association not be acceptable to either of the parties concerned, an arbitrator will be appointed, whose decision shall be considered final and binding.

At the recent meeting Mr. T. White, of Messrs. White and Co., of Barry, was elected chairman of the asSociation,' Mr. B. Mountain, of the South Wales Commercial Motors, Ltd., vice-chairman, and Messrs. J. H. Lewis (Western Valleye Motor Omnibus Services), G. flown (Griffin Motor Co.), W.
