Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AN electrically operated device has been incorporated in N.C.B. electric vehicles to keep the hydraulic brakes applied after the pedal has been depressed.

It consists of a valve connected in the brake pipe line from the master cylinder in such a way that when it is closed, by the operation of a switch, the fluid in the pipe lines is kept under pressure after the brake pedal has been released. The electrical circuit is interlocked with the controller so that the vehicle cannot be started with the brakes on.

The cost of the device, if ordered with the vehicle, is £19 19s., or £18 12s. 6d. if required for an existing N.C.B. model. For other makes of vehicle the cost is slightly more.

STANDARD FOR SUPPRESSORS ik REVISED edition of B.S.833 has 1-1 recently been issued by the British Standards Institution. It deals with the ratings and certain requirements for general components such as resistors, inductors or chokes and capacitors used is making up radio-interference suppression devices.

Copies of the Standard can be obtained from the Institution at 24 Victoria Street, London, S.W.1, at 3s.

CORONATION DECORATIONS

SUGGESTIONS have been put forward in a number of towns for decorating buses during the Coronation period. In Lincoln, a bus may be specially painted and souvenir tickets issued. Darlington is to spend£37 on the decoration of a double-decker, whilst it is proposed in Hull that £500 be spent on providing pennants for trolleybus booms and streamers for motorbuses.
