MR. HEIVRY T. DUTFIELD was unanimously elected chairman of the Road Haulage Association for the third year in succession, at a meeting of the National Council on June 5. The following were re-elected vice-chairmen:— MR. J. A M. BRIGHT (Onward Road Transport, Selby), MR. C. flowswonnt (I. D. Holdsworth, Ltd., Halifax), and MR. B. G. TURNER (Thomas Allen, Ltd, London). MR. ROBIN L. YOUNG (Young's Express Deliveries, Ltd., Glasgow) was also elected a vice-chairman to fill the appointment left vacant by the death of Mr. Isaac Barrie. MR. R. P. Br000w has been appointed a director of Ribble Motor Services, Ltd., taking the place of the EARL of HonnrouN, who has resigned.

ALDERMAN W. BANNISTER, of Burnley, Colne and Nelson Joint Transport Committee, has been appointed chairman of Area C' of the Municipal Passenger Transport Association. This area embraces 34 authorities, MR. G. Witsom, export manager of the India Tyre' and Rubber Co., Ltd., recently left England for a visit to Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark to plan for the expansion of the sales of India tyres in these countries.

MR. FREDERICK E. COOK, general manager of Southport Passenger Transport Department, has been selected to succeed MR. G. P. CRAVEN as general manager of Halifax Passenger Transport Department when Mr. Craven retires in August.

MR. A. E. CANNON will retire on June 30 from the position of managing director of Southdown Motor Services, Ltd., but will retain his seat on the board. Mr. Cannon was largely responsible for the foundation of the company in 1915. Ma. A. F. R. CARLING has been appointed general manager, with effect from July 1. He has been with the Southdown concern for 16 years and for some time has been acting as assistant to the managing director.
