TWO MINIBUS operators who had applied for public service vehicle licences were called to public inquiries by the Northern Traffic Commissioners — one because they were concerned about the maintenance of his vehicles and the other because of unsatisfactory parking arrangements — at Newcastle upon Tyne.
Robin Greaves trading as Mans Minibus Hire of Chillingham Road, Newcastle, applied for a psv licence for a Ford Transit which he proposed to use on contract work.
The chairman of the Commissioners, Bertram Foster said a vehicle examiner had reported that there were no parking facilities and the vehicle was being parked outside a dwelling house.
Mr Greaves said he was a partner in a _private hire firm using owner drivers.
Newcastle City Council had offered him the use of land for parking close to the firm's office which was capable of accommodating 30 vehicles.
It was his intention to accept that offer and the vehicle applied, for would be parked on that site.
He produced a letter from a neighbour stating the firm caused no inconvenience.
