A LTHOUGH Gateshead Corporation P1 has objected to Newcastle-on-Tyne City Council's plans to run busesin place of trams on through routes between Newcastle and Gateshead, Newcastle Corporation intends carrying on with its scheme, although it is possible that the scheme may be delayed.
It had been hoped to begin the change-over from trams to buses at the end of this month, or the beginning of February, and complete it by the end of March. Gateshead Corporation, whilst approving certain routes over which it is proposed to run buses, is opposing others.
