Barnsley's Arrangement With Local Hauliers THREE representatives from the 1 Barnsley and District Hauliers' Association waited on Barnsley Watch Committee on the question of hired haulage. As a result the committee recommends that, in substitution for the existing arrangements, the Association be invited to submit, month by month, to the appropriate departments of the corporation, a rota of hauliers selected by the Association to undertake haulage work for the municipality. It also suggested that the prevailing rates of payment for hired haulage be increased by 6d. per hour, except that in the case of the water department, the prevailing hourly rate be increased by such an amount as will ensure the payment of the same rate per hour as that operating in other departments of the corporation.
