LORRY TRAFFIC through Dove rose last year by six per cerr with 28,397 road haulage unit (a tractive unit and semi-traile equals two units) more passin through, compared with 198( The total was 510,613 units.
There was also a 34.38 pe cent increase in other ro-n freight, with 91,270 units goim through the port, and the ton nage of cargo handled at Dove rose by 0.97 per cent to 6.8m. B, contrast, the number of feu' services at the port fell by 2,1 per cent to 45,738, reflectim more efficient use of resources and the increase in the size am speed of vessels.
The Dover Harbour Boar( plans to spend over Om thi; year in improving the port, am this includes additional facili ties for lorry drivers.
