AFTER reading the report headed "Haulage: all good fun" (CMJanuary 23) I felt I must write to you in reply to the remarks of Irene Coates of the Conservation Society, who says hauliers use their vehicles to scare pedestrians.

As for the "butch and macho" phrase, well, I ask you what has a person's looks to do with driving? I wonder if she looks like this or does she in fact look like a conservationist?

I would in fact like to see what she would look like after spending a day steam cleaning a so-called fun wagon in preparation for an MoT in conditions like we have had these last few weeks.

I think this person must read too many cartoons or American comics.
