Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AN INDEPENDENT has collected 6,000 names to support its plan to reintroduce no-change cross-Tyne bus services between Newcastle and Gateshead.

Low Fell Coaches is applying to the Northern Traffic Commissioners for permission to operate a service between Allerdene, Gateshead, and St Thomas Street in Newcastle, replacing services cut after the Tyne and Wear Metro was extended last year.

Tyne and Wear PTE, Northern General and United Automobile have already objected to the scheme and now the county council's public transport committee has decided to object as well.

All the objectors claim there are sufficient services across the river but the public claims it is still not getting the through services which it wants.
