They were charged with conspiring to steal lorries in the London area between April and October this year, conspiring to receive stolen lorries and spare parts, and stealing _a lorry in Poplar. When the case opened last month, the prosecution gave evidence of the police discovering a graveyard of stolen lorries, cut up and dismantled, on a remote piece of ground off Bucknalls Lane, Garston, Herts. The Magistrate was told that the four men would plead not guilty and reserve their defence, and Knight's solicitor made a statement on his behalf saying that he had a complete answer to the charges and was entirely innocent. Lighting Regulations for Mobile Plant: The Minister of Transport is considering proposals to amend the regulations concerning the positioning of rear lamps and reflectors for mobile engineering plant. Because developments in design, such as ditch diggers, make the present regulations impracticable, it is suggested that the two obligatory lamps and reflectors should be allowed up to 9 ft. from the rear of the vehicle, provided that an additional lamp is fitted within 12 in. of the rearmost point of the vehicle, and at a height of not more than 5 ft. from the ground. This additional lamp will be required to show a red light to the rear visible from a reasonable distance.
