from October 31 and the option to use the British type of book will be withdrawn on that date. New Regulations to bring the change into effect will be laid before Parliament shortly.
There will be no change in the hours of work and minimum rest periods which drivers must observe. Part VI of the Transport Act 1968 will still apply for internal United Kingdom journeys and the introduction of EEC driver& hours rules remains deferred till at least March 1, 1977.
Guidance about the completion of the EEC book will be available from traffic area offices when the new regulations have been made.
