FOLLOWING the agreement which I has been reached in the negotiations concerning Persian oil, it is expected that there will be fresh opportunities for United Kingdom concerns to supply goods and services needed by the Consortium and the National Iranian Oil Co., the Board of Trade announce.
Exporters requiring specific information about exports to Persia are invited to communicate with the Commercial Relations and Exports Department, B.O.T., Horse Guards Avenue, London, S-W.1, and, where appropriate, to the Export Licensing Branch, Atlantic House, Holborn Viaduct, London, E.C.1.
OBITUARY
WEregret to announce the death th MR. GORDON G. HOUGHToN. Mr. Houghton joined Norris, Flenty and Gardners, Ltd., in 1916 and became a director of that company in 1926. Born at Birkdale, Southport, in 1886, he served his time with Carnmell Laird and Co., Ltd., then went to John Scott Engine Co., Ltd. In 1912 he joined Gleniffer Engines, Ltd.
At Gardners he was first at Glasgow, then Liverpool, and in 1919 became assistant manager at the London office, of which he took charge in 1926. \ UNION AVERTS BUS STRIKE
iâ– OORMAL services were operated in 1 south Essex last Saturday after a threatened strike by more than 800 drivers and conductors of Westcliff-onSea Motor Services, Ltd., and Eastern National Omnibus Co., Ltd., had been averted by the union (The Commercial Motor last week).
The dispute concerned the employment of three students as conductors. The bus workers ceased work on July 31, with the threat to repeat it on seven silccessive Saturdays.
