Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A DRIVER abandoned his bus load of passengers after a disagreement with an inspector — telling him he could drive the bus himself.

This was said at an industrial tribunal in Edinburgh last week when a claim for unfair dismissal by the driver, Michael Houghton, of Musselburgh, against, Lothian Region Transport, was refused.

The tribunal ruled that the dismissal was not unfair, but added that the transport department should give favourable .consideration to taking Houghton back into their employment. The inspector said the bus which Houghton was driving had an incorrect screen on the front. The inspector asked him to change it twice and he refused both times. He stepped onto the bus and Houghton walked off.

The inspector reset the screen himself and drove the bus because it was the last one.

Houghton told the tribunal: "I did not like the inspector's manner. It was very dominating and abrupt towards me and I felt very small in front of all the customers."
