""170 Leyland passenger vehicles and x goods models are displayed on these four stands. The passenger vehicles are a Panther single-decker bus and an Atlantean double-decker, whilst , the goods chassis range from a Leyland 15 15 cwt. van to a Beaver tractive unit for 30 tons gross train weight from the latest Leyland Freightline range.

The Atlantean has a 74-seat body by Walter Alexander and appears on that company's stand. It is in the liVery of Edinburgh Corporation and has a Pnetimo-Cyclic semi-automatic gearbox and a straight-through rear axle, not the dropped axle introduced last year. The Panther, like the Atlantean, has a rear H16 engine but which is located horizontally, and appears on the Leyland stand. The wheelbase is 18 ft. 6 in. and the Alexander 42-seat service-bus body is 36 ft. long. The Leyland 0.600 engine develops 125 b.h.p. at 1,700 r.p.m. and the drive is also through a semi-automatic PneumoCyclic gearbox. The Panther is for Glasgow Corporation and a special ventilation system incorporates ducts running the full length of the body .above the windows.

Two Beaver tractive units can be seen, one on the Leyland stand and one shown by Millburn Motors. Both are for 30 tons g.t.w. and being from the Freightline range have the Leyland Ergomatic tilt cab. In both cases power is provided by a Leyland 0.680 Mk. H Power-Plus diesel engine which produces_ 200 b.h.p. at 2,200 r.p.m., and a seven-speed constant-mesh gearbox is fitted. Millburn Motors are also showing a Leyland 90, 2.5-ton load-capacity chassis with a dropside body built by the exhibitors. On this model a Leyland 0E..160 engine is employed which gives 60 b.h.p.

A Freightline Badger tractive unit for 26 tons gross train weight is shown by J. Wilkinson and on this stand also there is a Leyland 20 1-ton van. This has a 7 ft. 5 in. wheelbase and the internal body capacity is 181 cu. ft. The lighter-weight version of this model, the Leyland 15, can be seen on the Leyland stand and apart from the reduction in load capacities to 15 cwt., the wheelbase is 7 ft. and cubic capacity 166 Cu. ft.

On the demonstration park at Glasgow, Leyland has two other models from the Freightline range, a Badger tractive unit designed for a gross train weight of 26 tons and a Retriever 22-ton-gross sixwheeler. The Badger is being demonstrated with a Scammell Fourtrak semitrailer fully laden.
