Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Stand 112—Mackay and Jardine Ltd., Wishaw, Stand 116—SMT Sales and Service Co. Ltd, Edinburgh 3.

Stand 123—Tomkins Bros (Motors) Ltd., Glasgow E3.

Stand I24—Watson Bros. (Airdrie) Ltd., Airdrie.

LTHOUGH there are 12 Bedford 1-1. vehicles on these four stands, More stress is laid by Vauxhall Motors Ltd. on a display of more than 60 Bedford vehicles being run at the Finnieston Street showrooms of SMT Sales and Service. This is the largest display of 13edfords ever seen in Scotland and includes examples from the full range of Bedford commercials with a wide variety of special bodies.

In Kelvin Hail the main interest will be in the, new TK models introduced on September 10. These are the light-duty low-loading TK chassis and the TK tipper, which is designed specifically for rough site work. The lighter models consist of 30 cwt., 2-ton and 3-ton chassis. A 30-cwt. model with platform body is featured by SMT, whilst a 2-wittier with Hawson boxvan bodywork is shown by Watson Bros. The low loading height which is a feature of the chassis is made possible by the use of 16 in. wheels and the frame height is under 2 ft. 6 in. Disc brakes are fitted to the front wheels of the 30 cwt. and the 2-ton models, and it is claimed to be the first time that a commercial vehicle of this class has been so equipped.

The specification of the site tipper includes such things as flitched sidemembers, protection shields for the engine and transmission, a heavy-duty front bumper and a redesign of the front wings and lower part of the TK cab to give adequate ground clearance. An example of the new tipper with a 7cu. yd. steel body and Weston tipping gear is shown by Watson Bros. and another with a rock-dumper type of body can he seen on the SMT stand. On the stand of Mackay and Jardine the model is shown as a 6 x 4, with Reynolds Boughton double-drive conversion which brines the gross weight rating to 17 tons compared with the if tons 12 cwt, maximum for the standard four-wheeler.

Passenger vehicle interest on the stands showing Bedfords is limited to one of the VAM chassis introduced earlier this scar. This is featured by SMT with a Walter Alexander service-bus body for operation in the Scottish Highlands. The Show exhibit will be one of the first of this model to be operated in Scotland and has a special large compartment at the rear end for mails and parcels.

Completing the Bedford exhibits there is a CA van with Smith's Cornette Mk. 1[IA ice-cream-sales bodywork on the Watson stand and the same chassis model with Martin Walter Workobus conversion shown by Mackay and Jardine. There are two TK drop-sidelorry exhibits--a 11-tonner shown by Tomkins and a 5-tonner by Mackay and Jardine.
