Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

CONTINUING growth in North Sea freight traffic has brought further expansion of the Exxtor ro-ro terminal at Immingham.

An additional ix acres of paved trailer parking space were commissioned recently, expanding back-up for the four-berth facility to more than 40 acres. The extension is the second undertaken in less than two years, and costing £500,000.

The complex is one of the busiest ro-ro facilities on the East Coast. Now handling 20 scheduled sailings weekly by DFDS/Tor Line, Cobelfret, Fred Olsen, Swedish Orient Line and Icelandic SS Company, the terminal had a throughput last year of two million tonnes of ro-ro cargo.

Car import and spot traffic has also been developing strongly, says Exxtor Terminals Ltd, Recent final extension of the M180 to within half a mile of the dock gives Immingham motorway connections unrivalled on the East Coast. Access has been a strong benefit of the ro-ro facility since it first opened in 1966.

The terminal has a permanent labour force of 125 registered dock-workers, supported by over £2m worth of handling equipment, working a two-shift system seven days weekly.
