• Belgian manufacturer Faymonville has launched a new concept in heavy-haulage trailer axle design. Effectively a beam axle split in the centre, the independently sprung and knucklesteered Twin Axle system has been approved by the CEE in France and the Tull in Germany for operation at 12 and 13 tonnes respectively.
These countries have previously only permitted the higher axle loads on pendle-axle systems. although the UK and Benelux already allow 12-tonne axles without that restriction.
Faymonville claims lower purchase and maintenance costs than for pendle axles, while the hydraulically suspended system's 340mm stroke is greater than on conventional beam axles.
