• 1998 is proving to be a strong year for heavy truck manufacturers. Vehicle registrations are up compared with the same period last year in heavy trucks and artics as well as in the usually buoyant light commercial sector, Figures from the SMMT show truck and artic registrations were up by 21.4% in February. 3,655 vehicles were sold compared with 3,010 in the same month last year.
The strongest performers were MAN and MercedesBenz, who both improved by more than 130 trucks
eeichl In the light sector 10,738 vehicles were sold in February compared with 9,088 in the same month last year. The best improvements were registered by Ford and Volkswagen.
